The Muskegon County Genealogical Society has published its second volume of Muskegon History entitled, "Footprints in History" of Muskegon County, Michigan. The history of WDCC is featured in the book along with a picture of the Board of Directors from 2022-2023 taken in front of the newly dedicated One Drop sculpture.

Thank you to member Jackie Engel for submitting our story for inclusion in the book. Parts of the history were written by Cindy Timmerman. Credit can also be given for an article written by angel member Elaine McCulloch in 2013.

2024 Summer Social…the theme was Wedding Attire. How fun!

Our 2nd Bake Sale with a Twist was a smashing success. $5688.66 was raised in 90 minutes and will go towards providing WDCC scholarships. Outstanding!

Hackley House Coffee Hour 2022

The Hackley House/Hackley Park committee hosted a coffee hour for City of Muskegon Parks Department workers on November 17, 2022. To avoid the cold and windy weather, tables were set up inside the semi trailer used to transport the camels and the wise men to Hackley Park.

A lot of care and pride is exercised by the Parks Department in decorating Hackley Park for the holidays, and we were given an inside peek into how the lighted tree is assembled.

Two park workers, Tim and Jeremy, built a new manger backdrop this year affectionately nicknamed the "tiki hut." See the picture from 2021 to compare the new backdrop to the one that had been used for many years.

Committee members were very proud to show our appreciation to the city workers for all they do to carry on the Hackley Park Nativity Project tradition.

One Drop Dedication
July 2022

Photo credits to Leo Valdez…thank you.

One small drop creates a ripple, just as every member adds to the whole of WDCC. In turn, WDCC in its entirety creates a ripple as every charitable effort, large and small, makes a difference in the community.

The amazing sculpture arrived and was placed on its base on July 20th, and Marc Moulton, the artist, worked diligently to get it ready for the dedication on Thursday, July 21st. The weather was beautiful and One Drop reflected the rays of the sun. Farrah Starr, Jannette Bole, and Kathi Upman provided the dedication audience with information about WDCC past and present along with the story of how One Drop came to be. Judy Hayner, director of the Muskegon City Public Art Initiative, introduced the artist Marc Moulton. Marc spoke a bit about the meaning of the piece. State Senator Jon Bumstead, and John Rooks, the owner of Parkland Properties, also made brief remarks.

One Drop has internal lighting. At this time of year, the lights aren’t visible until a late hour and it will be a welcome sight in the evening. One Drop will be a source of great pride to WDCC members for many years to come. Conceived as a project that would continue the legacy of the Beautification Committee, the tie-in with WDCC’s 70th Anniversary was inevitable.

Here we are celebrating our 70th year as an organization!
